How Do I Remove The Endnote Code To Create A Plain Word Document?
February 12, 2011
A Word document with Cite-While-You-Write references contains hidden codes that allow Word and EndNote to interact. It is possible to remove these to create a document that is ‘plain text’ Word document. If you are submitting an item for publication, some editors prefer you to remove the field codes first. Also you may wish to do this on the final version of a thesis.
- Word 2016/2013/2010/2007
Go to the EndNote Tab in Word and click on Convert Citations and Bibliography button, and then select Convert to Plain Text
- Mac Word 2011
Go to the EndNote toolbar in Word and click on Bibliography: Convert to Plain Text
If EndNote prompts you, choose a new plain text version of your document. It is important to still keep the original EndNote version in case any issues arise.
