The weirdest thing she\u2019s ever written is a love poem from a grassy lawn to a willow tree. Some of her favourite-sounding words include; effervescent, epiphany, clandestine and cacophony.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Melting Clocks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By Braidicea Warriner<\/p>\n<p>Salvador Dali&#8217;s<br \/>\nmelting clocks are<br \/>\nall the more<br \/>\nrelevant today<br \/>\nAt my house<br \/>\nthe tap drips<br \/>\nlike a reminder<br \/>\nthat this big blue<br \/>\nmarble of dreams<br \/>\nis quickly dissolving<br \/>\ninto an apocalyptic puddle<br \/>\nPearls of water<br \/>\nslap the stainless steel<br \/>\nlike hurried footsteps<br \/>\nWater weeps from the hour-hand<br \/>\nand time drains down the colander<br \/>\nin the kitchen sink<br \/>\nDrowning tensions<br \/>\nare shipwrecked<br \/>\nin my stomach<br \/>\nas I gaze at<br \/>\nthe intricate tree<br \/>\nstump<br \/>\noutside my window<br \/>\nExposed like an open artery,<br \/>\nit bleeds sap<br \/>\nseeping down its age-defining rings<br \/>\nBranches and twigs<br \/>\nlay scattered<br \/>\nlike dismembered<br \/>\nbody parts,<br \/>\na skeleton that was once<br \/>\nfilled with the flesh<br \/>\nof crimson flowers<br \/>\nand outspoken birdsong<br \/>\nThe tap continues<br \/>\nto drip relentlessly<br \/>\nlike a siren in my ear<br \/>\nit strikes the stainless steel<br \/>\nharder and faster<br \/>\nA pool of water trickles<br \/>\ndown the edge of the bench<br \/>\nlike the world slipping<br \/>\noff its surface<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the second installment of our creative work posts from Waves: Climate Change Theatre Action Aotearoa (#climatechangetheatreaction), we bring you &#8216;Melting Clocks&#8217; by Braidicea Warriner. \u00a0This poem was Highly Commended in the Expressive Arts Club Climate Change Creative Writing Competition 2015.
