 <\/p>\n

The river always<\/p>\n

finds a way<\/p>\n

down from the ranges<\/p>\n

through the plain<\/p>\n

to the sea<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

although sometimes it takes<\/p>\n

a circuitous route<\/p>\n

around corrals of cliffs,<\/p>\n

through macrocarpa roots,\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

sometimes cross country,<\/p>\n

clear across old stones<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

because the river has a way<\/p>\n

of folding back<\/p>\n

on its way forward,<\/p>\n

lengthening and stretching out long and wide<\/p>\n

as it takes its time<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

as it longs to find its way<\/p>\n

by longing for the sea<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

and in longing reveals<\/p>\n

the length of its persistence<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

which is something to long for<\/p>\n

however slow<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the way any life<\/p>\n

sometimes doubles back,<\/p>\n

folding and looping<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

because the river<\/p>\n

always finds the sea<\/p>\n

by following<\/p>\n

a doubtless course<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

sometimes doubling back<\/p>\n

but always moving<\/p>\n

eventually<\/p>\n
