{"id":563,"date":"2014-05-29T23:15:27","date_gmt":"2014-05-29T23:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.massey.ac.nz\/expressivearts\/?p=563"},"modified":"2014-05-29T23:34:54","modified_gmt":"2014-05-29T23:34:54","slug":"actor-antonia-prebble-keen-to-do-more-creative-writing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.massey.ac.nz\/expressivearts\/2014\/05\/29\/actor-antonia-prebble-keen-to-do-more-creative-writing\/","title":{"rendered":"Actor Antonia Prebble keen to do more Creative Writing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\n<h1 style=\"font-weight: 100;color: #004b94\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Actor Antonia Prebble basks in completing her BA<\/span><\/h1>\n<div style=\"color: #222222\">\n<div class=\"mn_right_img\">With timing any actor would be proud of, Antonia Prebble graduated from Massey University with a week to spare till her 30th\u00a0birthday.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0Back in 2002 when the-then teenager had already committed to a career on screen and stage, she told herself that she would also like to undertake tertiary study and complete a Bachelor of Arts by the time she turned 30.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0That milestone rolls round next Friday and, after crossing the stage to be capped yesterday among graduates from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington, it will be a double celebration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve been studying quietly away one paper per year for the last few years toward my BA and now I\u2019m basking in its completion!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">Majoring in English Literature, she says the curriculum really helped her understanding of the plays she was reading and performing in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0Hers was a conscious decision to slowly complete her degree so she could focus mainly on her career but also simultaneously enjoy the process of getting a tertiary education.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0The star of television dramas like\u00a0<em>Outrageous Fortune<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>The Blue Rose<\/em>, leads a busy on-the-road lifestyle, so studying via distance learning proved invaluable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0\u201cThe distance library service was so impressive with people responding to my requests very quickly wherever in the world I was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0Ms Prebble sat one exam at the New Zealand Embassy in Paris while she was briefly based in the French capital for a separate theatre course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0\u201cThey organised a moderator who was a Kiwi expat and it all helped make the experience so much easier.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0If Massey wasn\u2019t here I would have been unable to do the degree,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #5e5e5e\">\u00a0\u201cNow I\u2019ve finished I\u2019d like to do more creative writing.
