Wellington Library refurbishments continue at great pace.<\/p>\n

Level B opened at the start of semester 1.\u00a0 All books, DVDs, CDs, scores and music resources are now located on this floor, as well as a number of collaborative and individual study spaces and layout areas.\u00a0 We also have two teaching rooms now open, one of which contains 24 PCs (available for student use when not booked for library teaching).\u00a0 Look for a \u201croving\u201d librarian on the floor to help you navigate the new space.<\/p>\n

The new library lift is just days away from full operation \u2013 we expect to see it open for business from Easter onwards.<\/p>\n

The Mezzanine now holds the Wellington Library\u2019s entire print journals collection, as well as three PCs and three Macs.<\/p>\n

Attention has now turned to a major refurbishment of the entrance floor.\u00a0 We still have a Level A service desk, and various Information Commons resources (24 PCs, one Mac, two OPACs and four MFDs) available on this floor, but hoardings have been constructed and the footprint reduced.\u00a0 Level A will be completed by the end of 2014, and will see a new service point, direct entry to\/from the Centre for Teaching & Learning, a modified \u201clounge\u201d entrance area, multiple collaborative study spaces, and an extended suite of Information Commons resources in place.<\/p>\n

Throughout the Wellington Library building project we are taking a user-defined, flexible approach to our space layouts, so that users can colonise almost any area of their choosing to fulfil a particular purpose.\u00a0 Level B is already being used in many creative ways by students laying their work out over flat surfaces (walls, tables and floors!) \u2013 it\u2019s great to see.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
