The items on display are from Massey University Library&#8217;s <em>Opfermann Collection<\/em>, and were published in 1936 or 1937.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_block\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.massey.ac.nz\/media\/blogs\/loud\/\/olympics3.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"288\" \/><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_block\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.massey.ac.nz\/media\/blogs\/loud\/\/olympics4.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"288\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The Summer Olympics were held over 1-16 August, 1936, in Berlin, comprising of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>49 nations<\/li>\n<li>3963 competitors (331 were women)<\/li>\n<li>19 sports and 129 events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Berlin had been picked to host the 1916 Olympics, but these were cancelled due to World War I.
