See more on how <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.massey.ac.nz\/library\/2019\/03\/21\/wikipedia-boosts-visibility-and-readership-of-your-research\/\">Wikipedia boosts visibility and readership of your research<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Help:Wikipedia_editing_for_researchers,_scholars,_and_academics\">Help: Wikipedia\u00a0editing for researchers, scholars and academics<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Blogs: can explain research in plain language; gives a preview when not yet at publication stage; counts as \u201cpublished\u201d for references in Wikipedia. Massey provides an easy to set up <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.massey.ac.nz\/\">blog platform<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Scholarly social networks: e.g.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/\">ResearchGate<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/\">Academia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mendeley.com\">Mendeley<\/a>. Use these if they suit you, but take care around copyright.<\/li>\n<li>Social media: e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/home\">Twitter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/\">YouTube<\/a>, etc. These are increasingly being measured with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massey.ac.nz\/massey\/research\/library\/library-services\/research-services\/impact\/altmetrics.cfm\">altmetrics<\/a>;\u00a0they can take a bit of\u00a0interest, time and skills\u00a0to do well and build up\u00a0a good number of followers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do what suits you &#8211; but do something. Talk to your colleagues or others in your field\u00a0about what works for them. Perhaps see if they&#8217;re interested in sharing the load with a Twitter account or blog. Keep an eye out for other dissemination methods that appeal to you.
