{"id":844,"date":"2013-02-14T14:41:05","date_gmt":"2013-02-14T02:41:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.massey.ac.nz\/library\/?p=844"},"modified":"2013-02-14T14:42:35","modified_gmt":"2013-02-14T02:42:35","slug":"or-some-searching-tip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.massey.ac.nz\/library\/2013\/02\/14\/or-some-searching-tip\/","title":{"rendered":"OR-some Searching Tip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Do you know how to search for two related keywords at the same time?&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Just use OR between the keywords, and make sure it&#8217;s in capitals.<\/p>\n<p>So for example you could look for: teenagers OR adolescents OR youth<\/p>\n<p>This works in <a title=\"Discover\" href=\"http:\/\/search.ebscohost.com\/login.aspx?authtype=ip,guest&amp;custid=s3027306&amp;groupid=main&amp;profile=eds\" target=\"_blank\">Discover<\/a>, the <a title=\"Library Catalogue\" href=\"http:\/\/encore.massey.ac.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\">Library Catalogue<\/a>, many other <a title=\"article databases\" href=\"http:\/\/kea.massey.ac.nz\/search\/e\" target=\"_blank\">article databases<\/a>, and yes, Google too.<\/p>\n<p>It hasn&#8217;t always been essential to use capitals in many databases, but it&#8217;s becoming more and more common, so it&#8217;s best to get used to doing it. If you don&#8217;t use capitals, many search tools will try to look for &#8216;or&#8217; as one of your keywords, which makes a bit of a mess of your search.
