The Medical Physiology Research Unit (MPRU) is a Massey University-based research unit in Palmerston North that aims to improve our understanding of the physiological and pathophysiological processes that underpin medical treatment as well as the diagnosis of disease.

Research

Our research focuses on three main areas, (1) the physiological processes that govern phasic and tonal contraction patterns in the gastrointestinal tract and other capacious structures such as the urinary bladder and uterus; (2) the mechanobiology of bone, and (3) the pathophysiology of blood conditions and diabetes.

Our current research projects and past projects are details in the following links, as are prospective projects.
