The Government\u2019s\u00a0$380 million Budget investment in M\u0101ori housing<\/a>\u00a0has been heralded as a step in the right direction, rather than unleashing transformational change.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

…Associate professor at Massey University\u2019s school of economics and finance, Matthew Roskruge, said while the M\u0101ori housing spending was welcome, it demonstrated a cautiousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut it’s a step in the right direction. If we see sustained investment at or above these levels over a number of budgets, it is actually realistic given our capacity to deliver. The economy is struggling to deliver already on a number of work programmes that are already there. There\u2019s only so much resource and so much capacity,\u201d Roskruge said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
