Just running your eyes over the page won\u2019t get you far!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In order to be active think about the following before you start reading:<\/li>\n<li>What is your purpose?<\/li>\n<li>Why are you reading the text?<\/li>\n<li>What do you hope to get out of it (e.g. a definition or understanding of an argument)?<\/li>\n<li>Can you make predictions about what might be in the text?<\/li>\n<li>Does the topic of the text relate to any of your existing experience or knowledge?
