Privacy statement

Massey University has been engaged by the Child Cancer Foundation to establish the Child Cancer Counselling Network. If you are seeking to join this network as a Counselling Provider, we will collect personal information from you, including information about your:

  • name
  • contact information
  • location
  • interactions with us
  • professional details (such as registration details, indemnity insurance, complaints history, referees, etc) that will help us decide on your suitability to be part of the network

We will collect this personal information in order to:

  • be able to determine your suitability to join the counselling network
  • be able to contact you and link referred clients to your practice.

While some of the questions are optional, most of them are compulsory as they are important to help with our decision making and the coordination of the service. If you choose not to enter verification of qualifications and professional registration, or other such compulsory details such as complaint history, we will be unable to further your application to become an accredited member of our counselling network.

In the unlikely event that you are not able to be part of the network, the information you provide us will only be kept for the purposes of documenting the decision made and the reasons for this, and anything additional will be deleted.

We keep your information safe by storing it in a secure database and only authorised network coordinators, administrators and if requested, the Child Cancer Foundation, will have access to it.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. Please note however that we will withhold any information provided to us by your nominated referees if such information has been provided to us for evaluative purposes, in confidence, and upon the understanding that such information would not be disclosed to you.

If you would like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, please contact us at cccn.coordinator@massey.ac.nz.

It is our expectation that providers to this service will operate in accordance with the Health Information Privacy Code 1994 when discussing cases or dealing with client information.
