PhD writing skills workshops: Writing the confirmation report

This popular series of workshops has been specially designed to support the writing development of higher research degree candidates at Massey University. The workshops are presented by learning advisors from the Centre for Teaching and Learning who are experienced in supporting doctoral students through each stage of their writing process. In addition, there is a session facilitated by Massey University’s librarians that covers how to create and structure long documents, as well as tips on using Endnote.

This workship includes:

  • A brief review of the PhD confirmation process
  • Writing the confirmation report with a focus on structure and style

On campus locations: This workshop will be held in the VLT rooms on each campus (Albany AT4 | Palmerston North GLB1.14 | Wellington 5C17).

Live-stream: There is also an option to view the workshop while it is happening. If you are not on campus and would like to view the workshop via live-stream, please contact Cherie ( to request the link. Note: The link for live-stream viewing will not be available until 1-2 weeks prior to the event.

Workshop recording: This workshop will be recorded, and shortly afterwards (usually 3-5 days), the link will be emailed to everyone who registered or made a request.

Please prepare: So you can make the most of the session, please think about your main questions/concerns in relation to the workshop topic.

Not a PhD student? That’s okay. We welcome all students, especially Masters and other postgraduates who are seeking advice and support regarding academic writing standards.

Covid19 alert levels: The majority of these workshops are planned to be held in the VLT rooms on each campus. However, if the Covid19 alert levels change, these workshops will be moved to Zoom. Students will be notified via the LibCal Event Calendar webpage and the Doctoral Stream page.
