Information for Providers
Our aim is to provide families/guardians/caregivers access to quality counselling when a child they are caring for is diagnosed with cancer. We are looking for counsellors with a passion for providing this service. To ensure that the counselling is of the quality that is needed, the professionals need to meet certain requirements:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Membership of NZAC, a registered psychologist or registered psychotherapist
- An annual practising certificate where relevant
- At least three years’ counselling experience
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Regular professional supervision
- Access to the internet
- Able to respond to phone calls within 2 working days
- Can make contact with the client within 5 working days
- Can offer a counselling session within 10 working days
- Suitable counselling rooms (i.e. quiet, clean and family friendly)
- Ability to deal with a range of presenting issues
- Comfortable with short term counselling
