Information for Providers

Our aim is to provide families/guardians/caregivers access to quality counselling when a child they are caring for is diagnosed with cancer. We are looking for counsellors with a passion for providing this service. To ensure that the counselling is of the quality that is needed, the professionals need to meet certain requirements:

• A relevant tertiary qualification
• Membership of NZAC, a registered psychologist or registered psychotherapist
• An annual practising certificate where relevant
• At least three years’ counselling experience
• Professional indemnity insurance
• Regular professional supervision
• Access to the internet
• Able to respond to phone calls within 2 working days
• Can make contact with the client within 5 working days
• Can offer a counselling session within 10 working days
• Suitable counselling rooms (i.e. quiet, clean and family friendly)
• Ability to deal with a range of presenting issues
• Comfortable with short term counselling
