Congratulations to Dana

Dana passed her PhD oral exam today. Her project was an investigation into the biofilm formation of Vibrio parahaemolyticus, a growing foodborne pathogen of concern, particularly in seafood. Well done Dana. Dana completed 4 publications during her PhD. Dana is now seeking a job in her home country China.

Welcome to Dilushi

Our latest PhD student is Dilushi. Welcome to the team. Dilushi will be studying the effect and mechanism of activity natural antimicrobial treatments for controlling biofilms of Listeria monocytogenes with an initial focus on endolysins and bacteriocin combinations.

Farah Abdul Halim

Farah represented our team at the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology conference in Dunedin 2023. Farah presented both a poster and oral presentation on her work to understand citrinin production from Monascus sp. in red fermented rice.

Congratulations to John Brooks

John Brooks (Centre) was the recipient of the prestigious J. C. Andrews Award at the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology Conference in Dunedin 2023. This is the highest award for this society that recognizes outstanding contributions to the food industry and the society. John established biofilm research at Massey University.

Hanasni is the latest student to join our research team. Hansani come from Sri Lanka and has experience in working with Campylobacter, which she hopes to extend with her PhD study into biofilms of Campylobacter and novel methods to prevent or treat biofilms.
