October 9, 2024

Open Access Week 2024

We’re celebrating International Open Access Week during 21-27 October. The theme for 2024 is Community Over Commercialisation.

Find out how we can support you with making your work open access (OA).

Open access publishing

We explain the various pathways to OA on open access publishing. This includes a Massey University OA toolkit, how to make your publications OA for free through Massey Research Online (MRO), and Read and Publish agreements, where article processing charges (APCs) may be waived.

Massey University OA toolkit

The Massey University OA toolkit is designed to guide you through the process of making your journal articles OA. This includes the stages of planning your research, selecting a journal, submitting, acceptance and after publication. See the full open access toolkit.

Massey Research Online

MRO is Massey’s own OA repository of the research and scholarship of Massey University. Researchers can make their work publicly available in MRO for free (within copyright). This usually means work already published in a journal behind a paywall can be be made OA by uploading the accepted manuscript to MRO.

Read and Publish agreements

Massey University has Read and Publish agreements with various publishers. These allow Massey researchers to publish their articles OA without having to pay an APC. So far in 2024 Massey authors have published 238 articles with waived APCs (double the number at this time last year) with savings of almost $1.3 million and increased exposure for their articles.
