Users of Symplectic will probably have noticed a little Altmetrics button next to the count of their citations. It will probably look a bit like this –
If you’re lucky and your work has created some Internet and social media activity then your altmetrics button could look more like this
What this means is that a company known as Altmetric (www.altmetric.com) has produced what are known as article level metrics for the work and assigned it with a weighted score, based on the number of times it has been mentioned in Tweets, on Facebook, Reddit and Google+, in blogs and in the media, and the number of times it has been saved or bookmarked in services like Mendeley and CiteULike, although not within ResearchGate which seems to be...Read more
