Food For Fines at Massey Library

August 13, 2012

Pay your library fines with food at Massey Library during the week of 20-26 August!

We’ll be accepting non-perishable food items in place of overdue fines. This special offer is open to anyone using Massey Library, including distance students. All donations will go to local food banks.

Food for Fines allows you to “pay” off your fines (overdue charges but not replacement or lost item charges) with non-perishable food. Over the years many boxes of goods have been donated to the food banks – let’s do even better this year! You can even donate if you don’t have fines.

Items will be accepted at the Lending Desks of any Massey Library. Distance students can take part by sending a grocery voucher or donating to their local food bank using the online receipt (available from 16 August).

As a guideline, one medium jar, can or packet for up to $5 worth of fines is considered acceptable, so:
1 medium sized can/packet for fines $0-$5
2 medium sized cans/packets for fines $5.01-$10
3 medium sized cans/packets for fines $10.01 to $15
