Google Scholar Formats References

October 30, 2012

Google Scholar now has a ‘Cite’ feature, which formats items for your reference list, and allows easy exporting to EndNote.

Just click on ‘Cite’ in the results list to see how the reference looks in various styles, or to export to referencing software.

Remember to always access Google Scholar through the Library website (the article databases or subject guides pages) to get linked access to Massey’s subscribed sources, which are not available on the public version.

The usual warnings apply to this Cite feature as to any other referencing tools:

  • The style specified in your course material takes priority
  • Use OWLL or a style manual for guidance on standard styles
  • Referencing tools are only as good as the information put into them
  • Know your style and check all of your references carefully

For other referencing tools, have a look at Referencing Software.
