Looking to get books and journal articles from NZ and overseas?

December 1, 2020

If you are looking to get books and journal articles from NZ and overseas, the Library has an improved interlibrary loans service where you can now get books and articles from libraries locally, nationally and globally.

There are several ways to use the new service:

  • use the new ‘Search Libraries Worldwide’ links in Discover (at the top right of the results, below ‘no results’, and with some individual book records not held at Massey)
  • search directly on the Search Libraries Worldwide page
  • fill out the interlibrary loan forms as usual

*Tip: if you find the book you need in ‘Search Libraries Worldwide’ just click on ‘Request this book’. We’ll decide on the best library to use and will contact you if there’s any issue with getting the book.

The new service will replace the existing Bonus+ service, which was limited to a group of Australian and NZ libraries.  As the new service has a global reach, opportunities to get that hard-to-find content will be easier.

The service remains mostly free for staff and postgraduate researchers for items from New Zealand and Australia. The $5 charge for interlibrary loan will be removed, although the $15 charge for urgent requests will remain. You might also be asked for a contribution for international items to help offset the higher charges for these.

For our undergraduate clients, the current Massey Library collection should meet your learning needs.

If you have any questions about this service, please contact your Subject Librarian.
