Discover Library search, MyLibrary and EBSCOhost databases are changing

November 21, 2024

Discover (the main Library search), MyLibrary and the individual EBSCOhost databases are changing in January.

The EBSCOhost databases will change by 8 January. Discover and MyLibrary (in Discover folders) follow on 27 January.

This change means:

  • They will look quite different, but will retain similar or enhanced functionality. You may need to look around for your favourite features. Take a look at our search tips for new Discover.
  • Some folders/saved items will not carry across to the new version. Articles, books and saved searches in the folders will transfer across automatically. The image below shows which items will or won’t transfer.
  • MyLibrary loans, requests and fees will transfer to the ‘Requests and loans’ section of the new My Dashboard. See changes to MyLibrary.
  • Requesting an item will change, and we have an important message about delivery requesting. See changes to requesting and delivery.
  • Search alerts, journal alerts, persistent links to searches and a few other items won’t transfer. You will need to record details of these elsewhere to set up again after the change. You may also be able to convert these to saved searches, which will transfer across.
  • Custom and shared folders won’t transfer but can be exported to help with setting them up again. See the instructions to save the contents.
  • Persistent links to searches you have saved elsewhere may no longer work. Again, record the details to set up again later or convert to a saved search.

If you have any questions or would like help with transferring saved items please email us.
